Shanghai Baoye Construction Company (Baoye) is a national first class enterprise engaged in long term infrastructure contract construction with large-scale jointly construction and project construction .

Baoye had its original shape in November 1954. At that time, the construction manpower of different places in the whole country funneled in Wuhan to join the Wuhan Steel construction, which constituted Wuhan Steel Construction Corp.

In March 1956, Wuhan Steel Construction Corp renamed as Wuhan Metallurgy Construction Head Office.

In January 1963, it renamed as Wuhan Metallurgy Construction Corp.

In 1964, Ministry of Metallurgy decided to denominate the construction companies according to the sequence number. Wuhan Metallurgy Construction Corp was renamed as the First Metallurgy Construction Corp.

In May 1966, in order to accelerate the building of two big steel-and-iron bases, that is, Panzhihua Steel Corp and Wuhan Steel Corp, under the approval of State Construction Committee, Ministry of Metallurgy announced to divide the First Metallurgy Construction Corp into two, one part of which was composed as the Nineteenth Metallurgy Construction Corp undertaking the construction task of Panzhihu.

In 1974, the Nineteenth Metallurgy Construction Corp assigned elite team to support the 1.7meter project building, and set up the 1.7meter heat-rolling project-commanding department of the Nineteenth Metallurgy Construction Corp.

In September 1978, Ministry of Metallurgy drew part of the strength to support the building of Bao Steel project. The core team of the Nineteenth Metallurgy Construction Corp which joined 1.7meter project came to Shanghai to set up the Nineteenth Metallurgy commanding department of Shanghai Bao Steel project.

In June 1981, through the sanction of Ministry of Metallurgy, the Nineteenth Metallurgy commanding department of Bao Steel spin off from the Nineteenth Metallurgy, based on the personnel and mechanism of the Nineteenth Metallurgy, found the Shanghai Branch of the Nineteenth Metallurgy Construction Corp directly under Ministry of Metallurgy.

After the launch of the first stage of Bao Steel project and through the negotiation with Shanghai Municipal Government, Ministry of Metallurgy announced on Jun. 4 1986 that Shanghai Branch of the Nineteenth Metallurgy reorganized as Shanghai Bao Steel Metallurgy Construction Corp. The team resided in Shanghai to take on three major tasks: equipment overhaul and infrastructure construction of Bao Steel, services for Shanghai metallurgy construction.

In Mar.1998, China Metallurgical Construction （Group） Corporation(China Metallurgy) came into existence, after that, Shanghai Baoye belongs to China Metallurgy and became a filiale of China Metallurgy.

In Jan.15.2003, Shanghai Baoye Construction Company (Baoye) set up, its capital is a part of Shanghai Bao Steel Metallurgy Construction Corp and partner Corp's capital.
